Even after eighteen years my concentration has not fully
recovered. I believe that the loss of a child has long term
effects in terms of concentration. It does have a humorous
side too, as I am sometimes accused of being ‘away with the
faeries’ by some of my set dance colleagues when I get lost
during a set.
It was only natural that I sometimes experienced feelings
of loss and sorrow when I was writing this account, and I felt
wretched when I read the accounts of my family. I had not
expected some of the physical symptoms to reappear, and was
surprised when the skin peeled off my hands. But I have to
emphasise that I have found further healing from reexperiencing
the loss at a deep level.
