when a child dies. footsteps of a grieving family. (available from Veritas or Amazon)

My main purpose in writing the book is to give bereaved

parents and siblings hope. As a former school principal, I

have encountered many bereaved teenagers. I have

experienced a child die in the school, and another die on the

day before the school opened for the new scholastic year.

When I was doing my thesis a group of children in Transition

Year produced a number of creative pieces showing how they

had grieved. I was amazed and moved by these creations. I

really would have liked to let them know that I understood

what was happening for them. Understanding by others is so

important in the healing process. I hope this book will show

others that my children suffered as much as Mary and I did,

and that this will validate the feelings, thoughts and

behaviours of other bereaved children.
